WWI Imperial German M1909 Gewehr 98 Ammunition Pouch, Unit marked

Original Imperial German M1909 ammunition pouch for the Gewehr 98 rifle, dating from the First World War period. Constructed from blackened pebbled leather and featuring three ammunition compartments with the original leather fastening straps and belt loops.

The pouch shows genuine period use, with attractive age-related patina, wear and some leather deterioration consistent with its age. It is dated 1915. Unit marked in the middel compartment with JR78 (Infanterie-Regiment Nr. 78 ). Some other markings also visible but difficult to read.

A genuine piece of Imperial German field equipment and an excellent addition to a WWI German equipment collection.
