Original British WWII Gas Detection Brassard – 1944 Dated

€ 265,00Price

Original British WWII Gas Detection Brassard, dated 1944.

Officially known as a “Detector, Gas, Individual”, this chemically treated paper sleeve detector was worn by Allied troops to indicate the presence of blister gas. The treated surface was designed to change colour when exposed to certain chemical agents.

British gas detection brassards were widely issued during the Second World War and were also used by American invasion and airborne troops during D-Day and subsequent operations.

This original example is dated 1944 and remains a scarce piece of WWII anti-gas equipment. A particularly interesting item for a British, D-Day, US airborne or Normandy collection.
