Original Australian ANZAC WWI Pattern 1915 Canteen with harness

Original Australian WWI Pattern 1915 leather water bottle carrier, also associated with the Australian Pattern 08/15 leather equipment.

The canteen consists of a blue enamelled metal water bottle with a khaki wool felt cover, cork stopper and original leather carrying harness. This type of leather equipment was produced in Australia during the First World War as an alternative to British Pattern 1908 webbing.

The leather carrier retains its straps and metal fittings. It shows clear signs of age and service use, including staining, wear to the felt cover and ageing to the leather. The bottle and carrier display an attractive, authentic period appearance.

An interesting and increasingly scarce piece of Australian WWI field equipment, ideal for a collection of ANZAC or Commonwealth militaria.
